Student life in Panama

Priscilla

Hello,

Studying in a foreign country is an exciting prospect, but at times students do not have enough information to make an informed decision. We invite you to share your own experiences about studying abroad in Panama.

What are the advantages of studying in Panama? What are the disadvantages?

Are there proper housing options for students, or do most students have to find their own accommodation?

Are living costs for students in Panama expensive? What is an average budget for a student per month, including rent, groceries, and social activities?

Is it easy to form a social circle in Panama? What are some of the preferred social activities?

Are there international student societies or community engagement programs for international students?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Depending on the career you want to study and the University you choose, you may have different lifestyles sceneries. Normally, in private colleges, you may have the chance of having a full time job or part time job. In a public college is a little hard to enter in some specific careers such as to study medicine, civil engineer, among other. and those careers might take most of your time during 5-6 years.

About accommodation, students must find their own. their are a lot o rooms/condos/apartments near the universities.

I believe that an average cost of living for a student could be $500 USD.

In Panama, young people is very friendly, willing to party and meet new people. And since such a small country, you can meet someone that you met before and everyone is the same social cycle or are families or neighbours or whatever... but at the end you know half or Panama hahaha it is very strange, interesting but scary (in a good way, I think).

I know a ONG group, AIESEC that do international internships and connects students from around the world.
