Relocation costs - how much should paid by firm? by Turdis

I have an offer from a large firm in copenhagen @ 70kDKK per month after tax. It’s a senior role. This seems on the face of it a good offer, however I am concerned over the amount I’d need to spend to move my family Denmark from ...

Yes have put it to them, they are a big Danish firm so thought they would have more serious answers. They in fact suggested I take a loan in the UK to pay for the move! We can afford it but we don’t think it’s right to make that kind ... Read More

Thanks for the advice. The firm won't negotiate on moving costs or paying any expenses and so it has become a numbers game. We like Copenhagen but won't skimp of standard of living or savings we can make in London. For us to move our ... Read More

Alas, I turned down the offer, having now been to Kuwait to see the place in person made me realise the costs would be higher than anticipated in the housing side. Also would need a decent car (again not skimping) and that isn’t cheap. The ... Read More

Thanks, very helpful comments. Yes the ~70k is net after 48e taxation. No complaining about the salary, it’s a good offer. My concern is I’m going to be using about £10k of my own money to move, and seems a bit one sided and ... Read More

Of course, as a comparison I’m currnetly on £120k in London working in a bank here, after tax that’s about £6k a month. My mortgage eats up 2.5k, we save around 1k a month, and live comfortably though do have to watch the ... Read More

Etihad offer - M2 by Turdis

I work in in financial services in the UK on 120k p/y package, and have this offer on the table. I have 15 years experience in my field. My feeling is this offer is not worth moving for as it’s actually would mean I’d save less than I ...

Turdis

Thanks, they upped the total offer from 43 to 45, increasing the cash element to just over 31k. Still 5k below what I’m after so will try again. Read More

Thanks for the advice, very helpful. Noticed that the up front costs of renting an apartment or villa will be around 5% on agents fees + a months rent. Works out at around 16k AED just to move in, then there’s other start up costs. Seems ... Read More

They came back with a revised offer of 43k total, upping the schooling element to 50. Better than before by about £1k a month and the schooling element also, but still a good £850 where I would be at parity! Read More

Tha is very helpful, especially on the schooling numbers. I will decline the offer as I think we are miles apart, don’t really understand why they offered such a low figure in the first place when they know my current package. Read More
