Eating raw fruits and vegetables by Karen from Chicago

When we stay in Mexico, we always soak fruits and vegetables that are not peeled in an iodine solution. I can't determine from my readings if this is necessary in Costa Rica. Can someone please tell me? We're arriving in January. Thanks.

Thanks, Terry. It seems unanimous. The food is safe. We've spent the last 4 winters in Mexico, soaking everything. It just seems strange . . . Read More

Hopefully I have enough sense to avoid brown water. I think I'll stick with bottled for the whole 4 months. It's just safer. What about fruit and vegetables? Do you soak yours in iodine or just eat? Read More

Exit ticket needed for visa? by Karen from Chicago

My husband and I are booked for our first visit to Costa Rica on Jan. 4. We're not sure how long we want to stay--probably 3 months--and only have a one-way ticket. We've read that we need proof of a ticket out to get a visa. Is this true?
