Any changes in life when you become an º£½ÇÂÒÂ×........

JasfurJQ

Spiritually and Religiously, 100% satisfaction
Mentally, definitely
Financially, absolutely
Physically, need more improvement (gaining weight more exercise)
Luxurious, need to control :)
being an º£½ÇÂÒÂ× makes me more dependent and more mature (set aside the age pls)...........:)

Lots of changes in my life, I become more friendly, more self dependent and more self reliant. :)

When in UK my favourite saying was " I really don't do people" since moving to Bahrain I have a wide circle of friends and have a gathering at our place every other weekend with a minimum of 20 people turning up.

Being an expat has been the making of me. Taught me so much and made me a much happier person.

stumpy

It taught me understanding and tolerance of others.
It taught me to be independent and how to survive in places and difficult circumstances.

Fred

Life changes totally; in my case for the better.

I am the foreigner now.

I see you've managed to work out the most important thing.

Primadonna

Well Fred, you can't denied it, can  you???

Fred

That is number one.
So many people go to a new country but can't see past their old one.
My country is so much better because.....
They don't do that rubbish in my country
This place is a dump and that sort of stuff would never be allowed to happen in my country.

I say this to those who can't get the fact, they are the foreigner, "you decided to live abroad, commonly for a fat sack of cash and/or as many women as your tongue could handle, so get used to it or bugger off".

Of course, I've never been accused of being subtle.

The biggest changes were to my address and phone number.  They're not even close to what they used to be.

definitely more friends, addapting the new environment, tradition and life comparison.........

HaileyinHongKong

Environment, definitely.  It's hotter than hockey sticks around here.

Moving from the developed world to the third world was a very interesting experience.

I moved from a gated community in the US to the jungles of Belize.

There is no good shopping in Belize not much selection, unless you want weed. There is tons of that here.

I had to learn patience and keep my cool when things did not quite go as planned.

I had to adjust culturally and learn to take things as they come.

I have always loved animals and nature. The jungle killed any notion that I ever had about nature being friendly. Nature is a 24 hour murder machine in the middle of life occurring all around me. Crazy stuff this world.

All of the changes for me were dramatic experiences for me. However I am a better person for adapting and changing.

Pretty cool. :)

Was that on purpose or a typo?  I can see it going either way.

Hi, I'm currently living in Coos Bay, Oregon and want to talk to someone who was from United States and is living in British Columbia now.  Hope I'm not bothering you.  You said being an expat made you feel more dependent.  I would think so.  But also more free.  Can you be both?
Also, would you recommend it for a couple who are in their 60's?

ericwt

Typo.

It is both actually.

I am the most spiritual agnostic I know.

Pretty cool is what I meant.

The changes in life when becoming an expat...for me, it taught me to have a much broader mind set of the world! Another important one, is to be very self dependable to get any thing done.. :)
