Air polution CV, really that bad?

Apetondr

Hello everyone,

While researching the topic of moving to CV I came across the topic of air quality, various sites indicate unhealthy excesses of air pollution levels mainly due to dust flying from the desert. Is the air polluted? I am especially interested in Sal and Boa Vista

The air in Cape Verde is not polluted in the sense of toxic particles from burning of fossil fuels or industrial outputs. However from December through February there are indeed high levels of dust particles blown here from the Sahara. It is called "bruma seca" which literally means "dry mist". It is not toxic, but I would imagine that it could irritate those who are susceptible to asthma. Otherwise it is completely harmless.
