Is it a good time to visit Cairo??

Asma-bibi

Hello All,

I am willing to visit Cairo in 2 weeks and I am wondering if this is safe enough. In fact I would like to visit the city and I am not sure if there are still some contests in the street from time to time.

What is the atmsophere at the moment?

Thanks in advance
Asma

It is safe unless you join the contests in the street. Stay in a group, avoid the crowded places and streets in Cairo. especially Talaat Harb Street in the evening time.

The two weeks visit will be during elections? Just avoid that time.

She writes that she will be here in 14 days, she doesn't write how long she will stay and which area. Elections are end of November.

You can use the search of the forum, we must have several topics about safety and visiting Cairo/Egypt.

I moved to Cairo in June and have found it to be safe and friendly. Just use sense as you would in any large city and avoid places where you can find out there are going to be protests or apply the same common sense you would travelling on your own anywhere.
