Seeking Advice on Company Incorporation Costs in Mauritius

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of considering Mauritius for incorporating a company as a foreigner. I've recently received a quotation from a service provider, but before proceeding, I'd like to get insights from this knowledgeable community.

The offer includes various services such as reservation of the company name, incorporation, a 5-year business plan, opening of bank accounts in both MUR and USD, out-of-pocket expenses and printing materials, as well as director and company secretary fees for the period from March to December 2024. Additionally, it covers the registered address fees for the same period. The total quoted price is around USD 4,916.

Does this quotation seem reasonable based on your experiences or knowledge of the local market? I'm interested in understanding if:

- The pricing aligns with the market rates in Mauritius for such services.

- There are recommendations for other service providers who might offer more competitive rates or better service quality.

- Any tips or advice for someone going through this process for the first time.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback, experiences, or recommendations you could share. Also, if there are any pitfalls or important considerations I should be aware of, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your help and guidance!

@dandinos Fees look very steep. You can do a lot online, and the EDB is very helpful as well. My guess, you'll have to be in Mauritius for bank account opening and KYC is a huge issue everywhere,ย  you'll likely have to submit your copies of incorporation and other dox. Best if you Google and search online for the company registration portal. You might need a co secy though. I haven't done any of this in Mauritius but did in my country in Southern Africa, the processes will be very similar.ย  Good luck. Pm me if you wish

Hi,

What I know is that process in Mauritius is not the same as Southern Africa. Here you are compelled to incorporate physically in person or through a Management company with the authorities.

Opening online does not work yet here.

EDB will tell you the same thing. All the physical processes of Incorporation have to be respected unlike Southern Africa which has online options.

From experience.

@Davidray10 thanks, I think the point I was making is, whether physically or virtually,ย  there's a lot one can do by themselves minimizing the need for a "full package" that costs thousands of dollars. The exact procedures I am not familiar with but will no doubt follow generally accepted commercial processes. Was just providing some common sense guidance, the rest is upto the person involved in the process.
