Mobile phone plans in Mauritius

Cheryl

Hello everyone,

Staying connected while living in Mauritius remains a priority for expats, especially when choosing a mobile operator or to understand the local specificities of mobile plans.

Here some elements to consider:

How to choose your mobile operator in Mauritius?

What documents are required to subscribe to a mobile plan in Mauritius?

What criteria should you consider when choosing a plan matching your needs?

Are e-sim cards a suitable option for expats? What are the conditions?

What are your local tips for saving money on your mobile plan, especially for international calls (apps, operators, etc.) or mobile data?

Feel free to share your experiences and advice to choose your mobile plan as an expat in Mauritius.

Thank you for your contribution.

I'm using OneDrive, it came with 60mins free call over Skype to some countries. Of course, if the party I call has WhatsApp, then the call would be made with WhatsApp. But for business or old family members who are not used to technology, Skype is not a bad option.

Good morning everyone.

About E-Sim and normal sim, I had confirmation from local friends and therefore suggested to other Italian friends of mine who spent a holiday in Moris, to book at the site a local E-SIM EMTEL (for compatible cell phones or a normal Sim) that upon arrival in Moris they collected at the airport just before leaving, in front of the exchange offices. EMTEL offers a tourist package with GB, calls and SMS, essential if you travel on the road. PRICE OF SIM CARD Rs 750

AIRTIME

Rs 200 (valid for 30 days)

DATA OFFERED

200 GB Unlimited (valid for 30 days)

LOCAL SMS (UNITS)

Unlimited for 30 days.

What do you think of this news?

Let me know.

My only experiment : i am french citizen and spend whole winters in moris. I bought 6 years ago sim card orange operator. Emtel no big differences. And prices quite the same. It depend about what you need, calling and/or datas. To keep contact with france (calling and datas) , when I arrive in moris, first I re activate data (you can buy for 1 month, or further the quantity) to be able to call via whatsapp for exemple . You can find wifi in a lot of places ..... and a small amount for local calling.... if you have good friends already in moris
