rental for four months

My wife and I are inteding to visit Mauritious for 4 months when we retire in January 2026. Our intention is to see if we can settle there and if so go back to UK, sort out our stuff and move on a more permanent basis.

We are looking to rent a property in the north (Cap Malheureux area) with 2-4 bedrooms and near the beach. Happy to pay up to 拢1800/month. Can someone advise if this is possible and if so where will these types of properties be advertised? Everywhere we are looking wants a minimum of 1 year.

We were looking for somewhere for 2 months and found a duplex on airbnb - have you tried there?

We spoke to a letting agent this afternoon. we can get a qualty house for 12 months paying the same as we would for an air b&b for just less than 4 months. We are going that route as there are loads available

@robtait431 hi it is possible, the reason you see a min 1 year is that is classed as long term rental and doesn't require a tourist licence, however most holiday let people will negotiate for a longer period as it gives them a guarantee rent, but this cab be difficult in jan as its high season
