Puppy needs a home

CanadianNomad

Hi everyone,

Ìý I was walking through the cane fields and came across a little puppy who was obviously malnutritioned.Ìý Thinking Mom would be back soon, I checked on the little boy for a couple days often, and there was no sign of Mom.Ìý Not to mention, if the puppy did have a mom, she wasn't able to give the puppy the nutrition he needed.

Ìý So I took this puppy home with me and bathed, fed, and groomed him.Ìý He has the sweetest temperament and the cutest face you can imagine.Ìý The only problem I see is that he has a bad dry skin problem, most likely from malnutrition, and he is now on medication for this problem.Ìý I have no doubt this, with some good food, will clear the problem up.
Ìý
Ìý The problem is, I'm leaving Mauritius in 3 weeks so I will not be able to look after the puppy once I leave (obviously).Ìý So I'm looking for a home for the cute little guy along with a caring new family for him.

Ìý He has a healthy appetite, and seems to be in good shape overall.Ìý If you, or someone you know, would be interested in helping to save the life of this adorable puppy, I would appreciate any help I can get.

Ìý He has food, bed, food dishes, shampoo, and skin medication that will all go free of charge to the new home.Ìý Send me an email and I'll shoot you over some photos, you're bound to fall in love with the little fella. He's had a rough start to life, now I need your help making the rest of it better for him.

I'll always do what I can to help our four legged friends, if I didn't have 2 already I would have taken him. I will private message you the contact details.

I encourage people to be careful when handling the strays here in Mauritius. While our heart aches to see them run homeless and unhealthy, please take precaution not to contract mange or ringworm from them. Two very common things I see with the strays here in Flic en Flac, easily contractable, hard to contain and easily spread to family and children!
Working in the veterinary field, i've seen it, experienced it, and know it's no fun at all!

and Scott, thanks for the big heart!

Hi RedJayBird,

Ìý Wise words indeed, thanks for the warning.Ìý You say to take precautions, but you did not mention what precautions to take.Ìý Other than ignoring ones compassionate side and doing nothing, I think we all would appreciate some suggestions on the proper way to handle such a situation.Ìý Any recommendations?

Ìý My thoughts are to always wash your hands after handling an unknown animal, gloves where possible, and take it to a vet ASAP to help diagnose any problems ahead of bringing it into your home. Is this correct or is there more we can do? Thanks in advance.
