Moving from London to Mauritius help

Tyna2019

Hello expats,

I'm considering moving to Mauritius (although my mind is pretty much made up) :)

I'm 27 and have a TEFL qualification and possibly considering doing a PGCE (in the UK), does anyone have experience for applying for teaching jobs in MU (whether schools, private tutoring etc)...are interviews held over there or can it be done via skype calls etc?

My mum was born in MU, can anyone give advice about applying for citizenship? I've read other threads on this, but others seem to have both parents from MU, I have one so would I still be eligible?
What would be the best permit to apply for to reside here? I don't really have much intention of returning to the UK...

Luckily accommodation isn't an issue as I have family to stay with, it's more the job and permits/formalities that I would like guidance on.

Extra information: I have a full drivers license and my Creole is MINIMAL, do school teachers teach in English?

Thank you for all your help!

I think you do have chance of obtaining your MU Citizenship. Why not contact your family members here and let them see you through the entire process?

Be safe brov.

A person born outside Mauritius is a citizen of Mauritius under section 20(3) and 23 of the Constitution if either of his parents is a citizen of Mauritius by birth.

Use the link
and get in touch with the Prime Minister's Office for your citizenship.

With regards to teaching jobs, I suggest that you contact the British Council () I know they are quite active in this area...

All the best.
