I own a 52 place childrens day nursery (3months-8 yr olds )  in UK for the last 12 yrs,
Im originally from Mauritius working in UK last 30 yrs as a psychiatrist in the NHS.I was exploring whether it would be feasable/profitable to open a branch of the nursery in mauritius etc.

Hello Dr. Arvind,

I believe that opening a kindergarten in Mauritius is only a good idea if you are targeting the children of expats.
There are a number of kindergartens in Mauritius. Sometimes I don't know how the economy works. They look after e.g. 20 children and per child they then charge 1500 MUR. I don't think you can deliver such good service.
When I see the pictures on your website, you offer a different service. Establishing this concept in Mauritius is certainly a good idea. However, it will certainly need a certain start-up time before it is commercially successful.
Areas such as Tamarin, Flic en Flac, Grand Baie are for modern concepts the places where a sufficient number of families with young children who have the appropriate income live.

Best regards

Hello everyone,

Welcome DrArvind. Andreas above has provided good and relevant information. Before starting any project, it would be better if you conduct a market study and see for yourself how it works here.

For nurseries in particular, operating time is usually from 07:00 (07:30 ) - 17:00 (17:30). Often, they don't operate in december or during school holidays. It could be a plus if you offer extended hours/service as most people work till 17:00 - 17:30 (even later) all year round.

All the best,
Anoushka
