a lot of people have this misconception that if they get married overseas or in Morocco and not register it at the embassy, then it’s not legally binding.

but actually the law is clear, doesn’t matter if you registered it at the embassy or not.

if you legally got married in Morocco or overseas and if the country of marriage seems it a legal marriage (since you said it was done legally go the courts) then all countries would deem it legal and officially marriage.

so in your case yes you are married and should you remarry in the UK and then later the country found out or someone reports you that you are remarried without a legal devoice you would be breaking the law. And could cause you problems.

the fact that he has sent the paperwork via WhatsApp is a matter of his choice to speed up the process. Unfortunately Post is a slow process. But yes you can request for it to be sent via the post and you could technically submit and sign all documents within the Moroccan embassy in your home country subject to showing a valid case as to why you can’t attend court in morocco or deemed as a risk for you.

If I sign those two papers and send them back to him could he finalize the process without me in Morocco?

well it just depends on the court at times the court would like you to attend the first meeting always but due to the situation and circumstances maybe you can visit the embassy instead.

however once the judge gives the approval then you would obtain a copy maybe he will have to send you a copy since your not in Morocco. But you should can ask the embassy also

I think you should ask a lawyer. I got divorced in Morocco from someone who was doing to me the same thing you’re doing to your husband. Contact me if you want the info of the lawyer that worked on my case

@TaschaR sorry to hear that from you. I'm a British citizen and currently married. Going through difficulties which looks like may end in an anmulment.

I may ask you guys for advice as not sure really wahg to do.

How on earth is a document sent on WhatsApp is legal or binding?

You need physical papers to sign.  He needs to send documents by DHL or registered and you take it to the Moroccan embassy to get it signed  and notarized and  send it back.

If everything was so easy by just using WhatsApp, many people would be over the moon!

The marraige conducted in morocco is automatically legal in the u.k and no registration of marraige is needed. So by law you are classed as married in the UK and the rest of the world.
