Regions in Morocco where different Moroccan products are made?

urbanshopping101

To my understanding certain areas in Morocco specialize in producing certain things.

For example:

Fez is know for leather
Certain areas are known for Saffron
Certain areas are know for Hash ( not looking to buy ... just an example)

Any know of or live in an area in Morocco where there items are actually produced/ made?
I am not looking for where they are sold... but where items like rugs, clothes, oils, ceramic, lanterns, jewelry tiles or any other specific Moroccan crafts are made.

I am going to be heading to Morocco in July for a few weeks and want to visit a few of these places while there.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated : )!

About clothes moroccans arent special in making clothes as they bring it either from turkey or europe . But, if you are talking about traditional clothes its hard to define it as every regions had its style for example there is a kaftan fez and in sous regions u find amazig ( berber style and in sahara different too.

About tiles  , most of it they bring it from spain but i believe traditionall moroccan tiles from fez and marrkech

Thanks.  I know when my husband and daughter were there last year he got her some really cool Keftans/ dresses with really colours designs.  I don't think they are hand made it something artisan .... rather mass produced.

In Marrakesh old Medina souk, there are certain areas where you can see the craftsmen making their goods. Goods like making jewelry, clothing (djellabas, women gowns and dresses), leather (from shoes, hats, bags, and jackets), wood (furniture to jewelry boxes), metal (tea pots, etc), and dying yarn. There are shops everywhere to buy the items. You would love it there, since you like to shop. Fez is the same, but haven't been there.

I really enjoy seeing how things are made so this is something I think my family should do.  I like restoring old things like furniture, clothes, bags for fun.

I have been to Fez a few times and did get to see the places where they dye the leather.  I have great respect for trades people and the concept of learning how to do things and make things yourself.
