Load shedding

Yellowbelly22

My family and I are thinking of coming to Cape Town for 6 weeks in December.

Can anyone advise if Load Shedding will cause us any issues?

Should we look for accommodation with solar or storage batteries to help avoid issues.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Yellowbelly22,

Welcome on board !

I think it would be a good idea to get accommodation with solar/generator. It can be problematic.

You will have to check if there's any load shedding on the dates and in the area you are :

You can download the app or check here :

Hello Yellowbelly22,

So I can confirm it will greatly ease your everyday life. I arrived in Cape Town yesterday and the first thing we check in the morning is the load shedding schedule.

I am staying at my family's place and being told this is an everyday thing. It is supposed to be suspended by now but we are still getting it. Sometimes up to 3x a day. Usually for 2hr each time but it went up to 4 hours at times.

We have solar panels for the geyser for hot water and generator for electrical appliances.

Some areas are not getting it though.

Hope it helps
