Cost of Living in Zanzibar

Hello,

My husband and I are moving to Zanzibar in March 2019 for a 9 month volunteer placement. The organization provides us with $1500USD per month stipend (we are Canadian and unfortunately our dollar is weak resulting in a lower USD stipend). Will this be enough to cover costs? We are basic people who plan to cook at home, happy to eat local food, have the occasional beer on the weekend, take local transit, find a budget 1 - 2 bed apartment etc. The location of our assignment will be near Magomeni but we'd like to be closer to Stone Town. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! Cooking at home and eating local food, use local transit will make you guys live a happy and beautiful life there ,$1500 is 3 millions Tanzanian shillings so you don't have to worry at all
