There are many YouTubers who go to these countries (Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, North Korea, and others). They explain the visa status of each country in their vlogs. You can also contact the YouTubers and get detailed information. They are happy because these kinds of questions increase their ratings.

personally I find the ETA trend a bit annoying because you can't just travel so impulsively anymore to many countries, you have to get approved before you travel (even if no visa required) and I was looking at Asia to see which countries are using this now...

"Asia" is a pretty big chunk of land. Might want to narrow it down a bit.

I can tell you that Vietnam does not require an ETA, neither for regular travellers nor travellers from any of the 25 visa-exempt countries.

Likewise for Cambodia, neither for regular travellers nor travellers from the 11 visa-exempt countries.

It's my understanding that the Philippines requires an ETA from all travellers, be they from a visa-exempt country or not.

I assume you're aware of Thailand's ETA policy, i.e. that only travellers from visa-exempt countries are required to hold an ETA.

Are you travelling under a Canadian passport?

I travel with a Turkish passport. I have been working with the same travel agency for 20 years. They handle visa matters as well as tickets. I have not encountered any problems so far.

In fact I have discovered Thailand delayed their ETA, it was never launched yet

I was not aware that Philippines had one already too, kinda a bummer, seems just using eVisa would be easier than confusing everyone with this ETA stuff.

An "Arrival Card" is a certainly a lot more convenient for travellers, while an "ETA" is (probably) more convenient for immigration😊
