How much Khmer do you need to work in Cambodia? Are there jobs where you don't need to know Khmer?

I would say, the level of Khmer you will need really depends on the kind of job and industry you are targeting.

Would you be able to share a bit more about the type of work you are looking for in Cambodia?

I am trained in mental health, working with people with a wide range of mental health conditions, drug or alcohol dependence. I do like helping, supporting people but am happy to consider other areas of work.

Hi. Just a comment on your areas of expertise. I think it would be difficult to find a position doing mental health work without speaking Khmer. Just my take. Have you considered doing online work or gig work? I have a Khmer friend that does social media management in a consulting or online basis. She speaks English very well and gets positions often. Perhaps look into ways to use your expertise online? Many others teach English at schools here. I don鈥檛 know their proficiency with Khmer. A barang friend will be teaching here soon so there are jobs teaching but you need the required certificates or whatever.
