Calling actors for a play premiering at the Deccan Herald Theatre

Anish Victor

Theatre Club is performing Anuvab PalÂ’s 'Fatwa' for the forthcoming Deccan Herald Theatre Festival.
This is a call for two actors – A white British man or looking the part (50 to 60 years or capable of playing that age. A Brit accent is naturally required) and the publisher youngish, indeterminate age.

FATWA is a play about two friends who are middle aged failed writers. As a last effort, one of them writes a book which is published and brings him some royalty. He then tries to gain publicity and also help his friend earn some money by an effort to get a Fatwa on his own head and have it executed by his friend. The friendÂ’s only qualification is that he just happens to be "Middle Eastern Looking". A black comedy set in England. The first writer is a white British male called James Bond, the other also a Briton, but originally from Chennai, is Mohsin Ali. There is also a cameo character, the publisher.

Dates of the play : one day between 12th and 17th March. Also 3rd to 6th April, 2012 at Rangashankara.

Rehearsals : off Cunningham Road, therefore central, but preferred time is in the afternoon (though this is possible to negotiate a little.)
