Concert Titi Robin!
City: Mumbai
Location: Blue Frog, Lower Parel
Date: Thu, 2011/07/07 - 10:00pm
Price: Free Event

Titi Robin is a self-taught musician who believes in the universality of music, wanting his own songs to be heard by everyone: French to Indian/ all publics taken together. Playing a variety of stringed instruments: the guitar, oud and bouzouki , he is influenced in equal measure by artists like flamenco icon Camaron and Iraqi oud maestro Munir Bachir. Its inspiration is drawn from far and wide - Andalusia, North Africa, the Middle East, India and anywhere there's a strong tradition of gypsy song. Ambivalent to the machinations of the music industry and its self-imposed classifications, Titi is happy to stay at the fringes, well away from the world music movement and the next flavor of the month. This approach means he can write record and tour at his leisure. It also means his music can take him wherever it chooses, riding the air currents in search of new inspiration. More a timeless soul than a man out of time, Titi Robin is a free spirit  and it would be a shame to miss this visionaryÂ’s performance. He will be on the stage with Indian musicians:  Vinay Mishra, harmonium player; Murad Ali, sarangi player both from Delhi and Vinayat Netke tablâ player from Mumbai.

This concert will be the occasion to promote his new album: “Laal Aasman”, the Indian chapter of his triptych project called “River banks” with which he wants to celebrate India, Morrocco and Turkey. This project is his way to "give back" to musicians who have inspired him his whole life.

Laal Aasman will be released in India in July 2011 by Blue Frog and worldwide at the end of 2011 by Naïve.
