Living in Pune starting in January - Best time to have visitors?

Hello Everyone!聽 I will living/working in Pune for a couple of months starting in early January 2013.聽 This will be my first visit to India and I am looking forward to the learning experience.聽 I will also be traveling to Bangalore occasionally during this time.聽聽

At some time in January or February my husband will come to India to visit me for a vacation for ~1 week.聽 Do you have any recommendations regarding timing and things to see?

Also, I have other friends and family members who are considering a visit but have not done any research, do you have any advice on this?

Hey,
聽聽 Welcome to India and especially Pune. The time you'll be in Pune the climate would be amazing. There aren't much festivals during that time but in March you'll be experiencing Holi which is known as the festival of colours.
聽聽 There's a meditation centre in Pune called OSHO ASHARAM. Many foreigners from all around the world visit this place. Other than that there are places where you can go for treking or bike rides.
Amazing food, Irani cafes for breakfast and good places to hangout for drinks.
聽聽 Where would you be working? and staying?

Thank You for your kind response.聽 I will be working mostly in the Pimpri area, but staying in the Kalyani Nagar neighborhood.

I am looking forward to the nice weather and seeing Pune.聽 I will be there in about 11 days.

聽聽 Welcome to India, wish you a pleasant stay here.聽 I was staying in Pune for 2 years, not very far from Kalyani Nagar.聽 Now I am working in Bangalore.聽

聽聽 Kalyani Nagar is really a good place to live.聽 You can find number of ways to spend quality time.聽 You have pubs and bars including Hard Rock Cafe nearby.聽 You have a mall, and as mentioned by Ravi, Osho International centre is the biggest attraction.聽 City centre is only 5 KMs from there.聽 Airport is close by, and so many other positives.聽聽

聽聽聽聽There are many touristic spots near Pune that you can cover over the weekend.聽 For example Mumbai, Shridi, Ajanta Ellora.聽 If you are planning a week trip with your husband you can consider Goa.聽 North Goa is party place, numerous pubs, discotheques, water sports and crowded beaches.聽 South Goa is serene.聽 A place to relax and chill out.聽 Palolem is a must watch if you go to south.聽 Palolem is full of foreign tourist that you wont feel it like India.聽聽I was there in October and enjoyed my stay.聽

they have some cool services.

Hello,

You may go to Mahabaleshwar which is 4 hr. travel from Pune.
Lavasa is one of the good option.

I live in Kalyani Nagar too...
I am not sure ure tastes in places but there are a handful to long drive points from kalyani nagar which you can explore...

I'd love to show you around as well... just let me know...
