When you’re in student pass, you suppose not to work full time. On completion or post final exam (waiting for your certificate), yes you can be hired and S pass can be applied.

On other hand, during your study time, you can work for certain period, if your institution is recognised. Read the below link:

Yes I am aware that I cannot work while on student visa. What I am asking is, can I apply for an S pass while on student visa. I know it can cancale my student visa. But it is alright if I can get an S pass instead of that.

My other question is, even if it is possible, would it be looked down upon by MOM, since I was on student visa while applying for an S pass? In other words, would it be a reason for rejection of my S pass application.

The reason I am asking this is that, I already have qualification to apply for a job in Singapore, but I am interested in studying too. So if I can find a job while I am studying, I am willing to go for that.

Based on your qualifications and experiences, employer can apply S pass. If s pass approved then student pass will be cancelled and you can’t continue your studies. MoM will approve work passes based on its criteria, I have mentioned in another thread, you may read that thread. Good luck

Can you answer the second part of my question? Would applying an S pass while on Student visa, or while an application is already processing for student visa, be looked as untrustworthy, suspicious by MOM. In other words, would it trigger a rejection by MOM?

I have already said that based on your experience and education, employer can apply S pass. So whether you are here or elsewhere doesn’t matter.

You are asking two different things at same time. What’s your current status? Are you here under student pass or your student pass is under process? MoM can see your current student pass status, it’s Singapore’s  interest to approve any S pass or not. That part is beyond anyone’s control. Good luck

I am not currenly in Singapore, and hoping to come as a student.

But I would like to try out job opportunities too.

So that's why I am wondering if I come under student visa, and apply for S pass, would it affect negatively to my S pass application.

Would they think I intentionally came for seeking a job, and applied for a student visa just for staying in the country? Would that be a negative thing for my S pass application?
