Hey how long did the pass take to come through

In couple of days you will get the IPA copy from you employer or any agency who applied your pass. Once you received the IPA, work pass (S Pass) will be issued on your date of joining with new employer.

When your pass is approved, you automatically have the IPA - no more application needed.
In fact, if they apply for a Work Permit, your current pass will be cancelled. I assume that is not what you want.

Hi All, My IPA for Spass new application is approved also but my STVP will be expiring on 2nd Jan 2021..

Do I need to ask for extension of my STVP?

Sahil: STVP is issued by ICA, work passes by MoM. They are independent and don't influence each other. But at least you are already in Singapore, so don't need to apply for entry COVID-related permission after the work pass is approved.

Jchester: If your S-Pass can be issued before STVP expiry, you do not need o renew the STVP.

My new employer can do the extension of my STVP?

I was in similar situation as you whereby my IPA was approved a week before my visit pass expired. As long as you get the notification letter (which means employer applied for card issuance online), you can ignore your STVP. This was the answer given to me by MOM when I went for my card registration.

You did not mention that yours is a special STVP issued by MoM after cancellation of a work pass (not a normal STVP issued by ICA.
In that case, the STVP is not renewable at all. If the work pass cannot be issued before its expiry, you must leave the country temporarily.
Exceptionary extensions are granted by MoM only if you cannot travel back to your country due to COVID19 (e.g. if there are no flughts).
