Visa for Malagasy

Claudio34

Hello all,

We are a couple from France with (for the moment) bi-nationality French and Malagasy. My wife (Malagasy) is a Chef and we plan to go to Vietnam in 10 days because she has to study with a Vietnamese Chef.

For me no problem, I will apply to a e-Visa but for her it's much more complicated ! She, apparently needs an Authorization letter and "agencies" ask us around $500 for a tour, letter and visa... A Scam...

I saw that in our case, she could apply for a DH Visa (studies). Is it possible?

Or is it possible to find another way to get this authorization letter?

Thank you for your help !

At that good price, you are definitely not being scammed, if it turns out to be a valid visa/tour package.

There are a limited number of tour companies (5, I think) officially/legally authorized by the government to provide mandatory full-service tour packages including hotel, meals and tours.

If, for some reason, Vietnam is not offering the eVisa to citizens of a particular country (in your wife's case, ) then fortunately, there is the tour company option, requiring a more stringent visa approval process.

However, the official companies offering this type of package have been routinely quoting prices in the thousands of dollars with a requirement to also purchase your flight ticket from them.

So the people who are reporting back about that experience are often saying that the cost is near or more than $4,000.00 USD

The low-ball price you've been quoted AND what I've seen reported on face.book has me thinking one of two things is true:

1. Someone at one of the legitimate companies is selling documents to a 3rd party agent, showing a person as being totally approved for a tour slot without actually booking them in a hotel, etc.

Thus, the visa is illegal, carrying a risk of being deported for illegally entering the country.

2. There aren't any documents or visa backing the offer, and you will receive nothing for the $500 payment.

IF you decide to go this route, you should first contact immigration directly for the list of authorized tour companies.

Don't deal with anyone else for this type of visa.

Good luck!

Hi Claude.

More . Worth a shot.

(this is in no way an endorsement of the linked site. It does, however, offer ideas/suggestions/alternatives for acquiring a visa to enter VN for citizens of countries not eligible for VN's eVisa)

Good luck, and when you have time, please let us know how you fared. We would certainly appreciate it, and it will no doubt assist others in a similar situation to you and your wife.
