Foreigner Citizenship

SteinNebraska

Hi all, long time since I posted.  We are still in the US since March 2021.  Have a boy who just turned 2 last week!

Since the change in the law in July I have been thinking about getting citizenship for my boy and possibly for me.  Probably more important for him so he can inherit a business or property when I pass.  Right now both businesses and all of the land are all in my wife's name which I am comfortable with.  It's a long shot on whether we will move back full time in the future or not.

If we do it might make sense to get dual citizenship.  Both he and I could buy health insurance on the open market and he would be able to go to public school.  We considered doing this until he was around 10 and then move back to the states to finish Jr high and high school.

Have any of the other married expats done this yet or considered it?

Im considering it but waiting to see what the process is and let someone else go through it first haha. I THINK dual citizenship is only allowed with presidential approval and I dont know what the heck that means. I could be wrong but thats why Ive been hesitant. As far as I am aware no official process has been created yet unless thats changed in the last few weeks.
