They will do a blood test, not sure if Hep B is checked. Hep B is quite common in Viet Nam so I can't see why it would be a major issue for you, but you are not VN and different rules apply to expats.

I looked at my physical.  It had two items under Mien Dich Huyet Hoc. (Immune Hepatology.)  One is Anti HIV and the other is HBsAg which is likely Hepatitis B.  The order sheet included HAV (Hep A?) and listings for HBeAg, HBeAb, and other apparent sub-types not checked or tested for.  Of course there is no indication of the effect of a positive result as it is simply a medical report but if they are testing for it it likely means that a positive test matters.

I am just worried, beacuse i am hepa b carrier since birth. Im thinkin i i go for medical to get woki permit in vietnam. Mightbget deported and cant work in vietnam.

They are more worried about TB than Hep B, many locals carry Hep B.

So u think ill past my working permit even they found out i am positive in hepa b. Even i am expat? Just wanna know. Coz as of now i am working. So if i take the offer in vietnam i will resign here. But just worried if they found out i am hepa b carrier they might gonna deny my visa or.working permit and send back home. 😢

Knowing that you are positive for HBsAg is not enough to give the full picture.  You need to know your status on a second test (same blood draw) for anti-HBc  IgM anti-HBc, and anti-HBs to tell if you are acutely or chronically infected.  If you are acutely infected, you need to take immediate action.  If you are chronically infected you still can pass on the virus through sexual or blood-borne means.

Not everyone who is infected becomes chronically infected.  You can develop a prior infected immune status as well but that delivers a negative for HBsAg.



Although the question has been asked several times on this forum, I have no recollection of any person who tested positive for HBsAg asserting that they received a work permit.  That does not mean it is impossible;  only that nobody has said "Yes I have."

Did you read my prior post and the linked chart?  Just saying that you are a Hep B carrier is not enough information.  And of course, the decision rests with authorities and not the members of this discussion group.

My wife is previously infected, perhaps from birth, but not chronically or acutely infected.  (Again, see the chart above.)  I am fairly certain that any expat with the same status could obtain a WP as that describes a huge number of persons in Vietnam.

 Was any one able to obtain the work visa in Vietnam with Hbsag possitive? I am having it since birth. I have an employment offer from vietnam. Just verifying if i need to go ahead with the job offer.

I am from India and am currently employed and dont want to loose both.

I've been waiting to go to Vietnam as well..
(I have a job offer and signed contract with a Vietnamese company) But was informed by them that giving out new visas has been put on hold while the lockdown is in place.

So for now I would wait till Sept. 15 anyways, when hopefully there will be more clarity on when he country will open up again.
