Need advice

I am trying to convince my wife to move to Belize after she retires next June.

I have decided the best approach would be to come there and stay for at least 3 months before making any firm decision.

My questions are:

What is the best area to stay in the country?

Are there decent Vet services (I want to bring my Golden Retriever)

Is it realistic to expect to be able to rent a house or condo at a reasonable price for 3 to 6 months?

Hi Danrpa, I hope you can convence your wife to at least come to visit Belize. It is the best of the best. I moved here 7 years ago, and still love it. I live in the Cayo District, San Ignacio, and perfer this area because of the diversity, the mountains, and AWAY from the hurricaines.聽 There are excellent vets in this area, a humane group also.聽 Renting in this area is also good, there are many rentals both furnished and unfurnished. I hope you choose to come and give it a try.聽 We Chave been designated #2 as the best place to retire. Come give it a try.

Our home is half way between Corozal Town and Consejo on the seafront.聽 We love it, as we can be in town in minutes or choose to relax in our secluded paradise.
I think your plan of coming down and renting for 3 months is an excellent idea.聽 As for vets, I use Dr. Shelia in Corozal, a USA trained vet who is very good with animals....people not so much聽 :-)
You can easily rent a very nice place for between $500.00 and $750.00 per month.聽 If you want to settle for something less fancy then the prices drop dramatically

Corozal was listed as one of THE TOP FIVE places in the world in which to retire!聽 Corozal is the northernmost town in Belize, close to the Mexican border.聽 Corozal has about all the amenities one would wish for in a new country and more are added as more expats move here.聽 It is built on a Bay so is a protected area and always gets a good Sea Breeze from the Caribbean!聽 There are good school, medical professionals and facilities, many cultural events and groups to get involved in.聽 And, yes, there are good pet vets in Corozal.聽 There are rental available.聽 This area is a good choice.
