There is a Ferry that sail from PR to Santo Domingo. This is cruise line type of ship. Looks more like a Navy ship, the ferry is 13hrs long, cost is $65.00. It is dog friendly and offers food and beverages same as the cruise line, etc, Dining room, buffet and other type of food services. Other services are available are salons, gyms, Casino and the same as the cruise line. There are different types of rooms like the cruise line. Other services is shipping, transport your cars, motorcycles and others. I am not sure about furniture. The ship is beautiful!

Are the rooms really like a cruise ship? I haven't been on it, but from what I read, I thought the "rooms" were more like train berths.

No. The rooms are more like older style cruise room. They are clean and orderly. You have entertainment, key passes to open the doors, air chair and more. Go online and watch the video.
