Speaking French in Guadeloupe

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

It is widely agreed that speaking French is essential for a successful integration in Guadeloupe. Do you agree? Share your experience!

Do you speak French? If so, where did you learn this language? Where can one attend a language course in Guadeloupe?

If not, how do you cope with daily activities? Is it easy to communicate in a different language with Guadeloupeans?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi Priscilla,

I live in Guadeloupe for almost three years now from the UK.  I didn't really find it to be a problem making friends or getting around. Most of the younger people speak some English and were always eager to learn more.  There are also English groups on the Island that meet regular to chat and have a laugh.

It terms of finding French lessons. I didn't find too much in the way of that here or maybe I was looking the wrong places.

Can anyone point to the English groups mentioned here?

Thank you in advance, Harry.
