moving permanently to panama city

tommychronopoulos

Hi everyone. Im looking to move to panama from toronto canada. Im coming down this summer to check the hype our for myself but would love some input from other people. I was wondering about the automotive business. In canada I own a autobody shop and planned to do the same in panama. Does anyone know anything about the trade in panama? Part of my business is as well mobile. Meaning I come to the customer to fix their car on the spot. Does anyone know if panama offers a service like this? Any help with this would be amazing. Thanks.

Other than in Panama City, most automotive work is done by Panamanians just like you describe, on the spot or in their homes. Labor rates here are not even close to what you might get in Canada. Most trades work for $15-$20 per day, so do not expect to live on what you earn.

Whole families live on less than that for a month!
Have you researched if you can legally do this in Panama? I'm retired and don't know much about having a business here, but I've heard it is complicated and often frustrating.
