Long term visa for single parent

davindersharma20042008

I wanted to share my current situation and seek your advice. I have been working here in Belgium since March 2024 on a single permit, which is valid until March 2027.

Unfortunately, my mother passed away last month. Since then, my father has been alone at our native place. He is a heart patient, and I have a medical certificate confirming his condition. As I don't have any siblings or other family members there who can look after him, I’m very concerned about leaving him alone.

Given these circumstances, I am exploring the possibility of bringing my father to Belgium for a longer stay. I understand there may be an option to apply for a long-term (Visa D) under family reunification. Could you please advise if it's possible to apply for a long-term visa for a parent in this situation? If so, what would be the necessary conditions or documents?
