Processing time for long stay visa

yat123

Hello everyone,

I'm a bit confused about the time it takes to process visa applications for my family (wife & son). Now, it is almost 6 months since we submitted our applications. How many months we should have to wait to get the final decision? Do you think contacting the embassy for an update makes sense?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

hello

as a non-eu citizen, your family reunion visa will take up to 9 months.
Normally the embassy/vfs/tls have provided you with a tracking number for your visa request, that allow you to verify the status on the belgian immigration website.

Due to Covid, it has put a strain on many offices and Embassies so providing you are in the system you just have to be patient.

I don't know if I am mistaking but I have read a few non EU people posted in some thread here that their family reunion didn't take up to 5/6months.
I also understand that applying family reunion from Belgium takes longer than applying from home country, or am I wrong? Please clarify.

Thanks sincerely

Dear Adeyola,

Thank you for your response. In my case, we submitted our applications from our home country.

There are delays because of COVID. This is happening in pretty much every country in some form or the other.

Ok I see.

Thank you for clarifying.

I would suggest to track with the embassy. It has been taking on average 2 months.

Thank you. Let me contact the embassy!

We got ours in 5 months, they asked for many papers before approving the visa.

Adeyola

They still asked for many papers apart from the required documents on the checklist for non EU? Please kindly share what those papers are cos my family is currently preparing their folder for family reunion application and we are following the check list.

Thank you in anticipation of your response.

Hello Yat,

As it has been 6 months in your case so I will suggest you to contact the Embassy once and see the status. Possibly because of Covid and then also the holiday period going right now it might have been taking more time than usual. I have also applied for my wife’s visa, it is already 3 months and still waiting. So, I wish you get your wife’s and son’s visas approved sooner.
