Type D Visa after getting a Belgian Working permit

Nabil.larhzouli

Hi everyone,

My name is Nabil and i'm from Morocco but at the moment i'm living in France and I have a residence card of two years which will end at the 30/10/2018, I have received a job offer from a company based in Antwerp Belgium, I signed the contract with them, and they are now on the process of getting the WP, They applied for it in the beginning of June... they told me that the process usually takes up to 6 weeks.

My question is, Do I need a type D visa to go Belgium or should I just go there directly and ask for a residence card in Antwerp when I will receive the WP since I have a french residence cards that allows me to travel anywhere in the schengen area  ?

Thank you in advance for your response!

Hello, welcome to the forum. As your current French residence permit is temporary one (it allows you only short term stay in Belgium), in my knowledge, you need a D type visa in order to enter Belgium to establish long term residence. The process is straightforward. You can apply in the nearest Belgian consulate in France.
