Hello everyone,
My name is Maria, I am from Spain, I am new in Sofia.
I have a small online handicraft business register in my hometown Spain and I have to constantly order material/packages from China to have the essential material to do my artwork.
I found this link when it explains how customs work in Bulgaria but I find it a bit confusing and missing some important information: [link moderated]
When I called several times to Sofia Customs none of the agents spoke any English at all and I wasn't able to clarify my doubts at all so I am writing here to know if someone is able to help me to understand a few things.
I already know that for every package that is over 30 BGN I will need to pay 20% tax over it and that is ok.
My biggest concern is every time I receive something over 30 levs (that will happen many times) I need to go to the customs myself to collect my package or pay 12 levs instead to be delivered to my local postal office?
I do not have a driving license or a car and the Sofia customs are in 31, Chelopeshko shose Str., in Yapadzha that for me that lives in the West part of Sofia will be 2 hours of bus to go plus 2 hours to return that will be completely unthinkable to do that all the time.
But if I use the service presented in the link I spoke it here earlier and pay 12 levs for every package I receive from China I will spend hundreds and hundreds of levs every month and will kill my little business.
Can anyone please help me to understand if what I said it is right or wrong?
Also if any way to collect my packages any place near home without paying this astronomical value of 12 levs for a package?
And to finish what are all the steps I need to do to collect a package that are in the customs? Because on the BgPost site it says I can submit the documents in the relevant post office but after in the steps section it says I need to do it online.
I would really appreciate that someone can help me to understand all this complicated process over here.
P.S.; I also heard that from June 2021 all the packages from outside the EU no matter the price they are will be subject to 20% tax (Including the ones under 30 levs). Does anyone know if this true? Or it is not exactly like that?
