Husband wanting to buy a reliable car in the Burgas Area

Kath948381

I don't drive and I've heard a lot of horror stories about buying a car in Bulgaria. So husband wants to buy a car which at a pinch needs to hold visitors arriving at the airport be did have an automatic car in the past and I think he'll be looking for something similar and I'm concerned that if it breaks down who.would we contact for either roadside repairs or bringing home and taking the car to repair and returning it to our home. Any ideas?

I've bought two second-hand cars here, followed by two new ones. I'd recommend avoiding a new Suzuki here, the main dealer's completely useless. We both know how to drive, so prefer manuals... 😎

Seriously, though - you'll have no more to worry about here when buying a second hand car than you would anywhere else, and no less either! ðŸ˜

A 4*4 is very handy in the winter, and LPG's definitely the way to go.

He last had a Toyota Hybrid in the UK. And he e wants something similar but slightly larger here the same but with more space.

So nobody has an opinion on this subject then except Jimj ? Oh well

Second-hand car salesmen, estate agents and politicians are untrustworthy the world over - what more can anyone say? ðŸ˜

We haven't bought a vehicle yet, Kath, so my opinion would be worthless! I have a bit of an idea which used car dealers in Dobrich are likely to sell lemons and which *might* sell a decent vehicle, but that's not much help to you in Burgas.

There's also Sweet FA in the way of comeback if you get screwed over with some cut-n-shut banger....

Ok thank you maybe better to buy something in the UK when his Mums house sells and drive it back over here.

Thank you everyone

I'm not sure whether you'll have issues getting a UK car registered in Bulgaria, Kath. People here have talked about encountering problems. That's a separate question to consider.

JimJ

There are companies in the UK which specialise in LHD cars; if it's already registered in the EU you won't need type approval, new headlights etc - and they usually offer a warranty.  There was a big one run by a Greek Cypriot family in London (near Kings Cross, if memory serves) years back..

Thank you but we did live in the NorthWest of the UK so much so that when I ve met someone who speaks English in the city of Burgas who think I'm Scottish. So when we go back to the UK we will be flying into Manchester.
