EHIC card

Gareth03

Hello,

As a dual UK and Maltese national living in London I have always applied for my EHIC European Health insurance Card from here.

Obviously, after Brexit am no longer going to be able to do that, and I am wondering how I now go about applying for a card from Malta.

While I have a passport and identity number, I don't have an identity card (not being normally resident on the island). Looking at the government website, it seems that I have to travel to the island to first register for an identity card in order to then get an e-ID account in order to then apply for the card online.

Has anyone else had experience of this, and have you any pointers to maybe help me out?

Much appreciated

Gareth

Welcome to the Forum

From my understanding, you can only get the EHIC in the country where you are resident. So even if you had e-ID you would not be able to get the card sent to the UK.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that seems to be the impression that I am getting from my research. Brexit, the gift that just keeps giving...
