Confusing Public Transportation Ticketing System at Liverpool!

Serdar Çoban

Hi everyone, I'll be living in Liverpool with Skilled Worker visa after 1st April. I'm so excited about it.

I'm trying to figure out how to go to work from hotel at Duke Street. My daily travel will be like below:

So, according to image below, I will be going from area C1 to B1

In the website of merseytravel the pricing is like this:

1 zone £75.50

2 zones or 1 area £94.90

3 zones or 1 area+1 zone £118.00

All zones across the county £153.70

So, what is zone and what is area?

I'm going to be traveling between two areas. Which one should I pick?

Why this is so complicated?

Please somebody help.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

To answer your questions, they have split the Liverpool area into 4 areas, these areas have been further sub-divided into Zones; for example, if you live in Zone B1 and Work in Zone C1, you would need a 2 zone ticket; if you live in Zone B1 and work in Zone A1, you would need a 3 zone ticket.

It really isn't complicated, but I guess I've been used to the UK public transport systems for a long time.

I hope you enjoy Liverpool and that this has helped.

@Cynic

Hi, thank you so much. Your answer is very helpful. I think the only confusing part is, Area and Zone naming.

Thanks a lot again.

Greetings,
