Applying for a work permit/blue card from Pakistan

captainspiwtf

Hi guys,

I am new here and I was hoping there was someone with a background similar to mine who could answer some of my questions.

I live in Pakistan and I have a job contract with a company based in Berlin. I am about to apply for the Blue Card (I am in the 'sought after' category with an annual wage above the specified threshold).

I realize it would be better if I asked the consulate the questions to follow but then again, since when is doing it right the first time fun ;) So here goes nothing:

The consulate has a page for Job Seeking/Work visas, and since the page is basically generalized for both job seeker visas and work visas, I am not sure if these requirements are applicable for me since I am looking for a work permit/blue card:

1) Proof of language skills (IELTS/TOEFL): Would this be applicable in my case? I have a university degree
2) Proof of accommodation in Germany: Would this be applicable in my case? I mean I can't rent out a place until I am sure I have a visa right? It's a bit of a catch 22 scenario.

Link to the consulate page:
pakistan.diplo.de/Vertretung/pakistan/en/06Legal/2__visa__longterm/4__work__jobseeker.html

Any guidance would be appreciated!

I doubt that IELTS/TOEFL is really a requirement for a visa - we do speak German, not English here!
Regarding accommodation, you may want to book a temporary stay in a hotel/B&B/hostel/serviced apartment - you'll need several weeks to a few months anyway to find a permanent place once you're here.

Thanks Beppi! I plan on visiting the consulate soon for further clarification. Myaqoob was kind enough to share her experience and she thinks while the language certificates are generally required, I might be able to get them to waive that requirement with an appropriate letter from my future employer.

I am really looking forward to moving to Germany and experiencing the cultural diversity in Berlin! Fingers crossed :-) I hope the process is as easy here as it is in other parts of the world!

Hello,

I would like to know how did your VISA process go at that time?

I have a colleague from Pakistan in the same situation, where he has working contract etc. but without language certificates. Did you manage to pass it without submittieng them or how was it?

Would be great if you let me know.

Thank in advance.

As you can probably imagine, many people want to move to Germany and work here. Since you are not EU citizen (who need to be hired first), you must be better in some respect than them. Thus please focus you job search on your niche skills that are rare in Europe. A driving license is not enough!
(In addition, you need good German language skills for almost all jobs here.)

Hi I have EU permanent resident card of spain I can work in Germany if any one give me a work contract

beppi

There is no "EU permanent resident card". Resident visa are still national (one country only). Your Spanish one does not help you at all for moving to Germany - only visits (up to 90 days) are allowed.
