Hi everyone,
I am a British national who has been working in a private school in Morocco for 24 years.聽 I was married in Gib a few years ago, and own an apartment on the Spanish coast.
聽 I was wondering if there are many opportunities to work as a classroom assistant in a school in Gibraltar?聽 How do I find out about positions that may come up in a school?

Are non Gibraltarians considered for such posts?

Because I have been so busy at school, I haven't had time to get to Gib to find out more about the schools there.
Do you know if there are opportunities for non Gibraltarians to work as an assistant or librarian?聽 (I am rather tired of being a classroom teacher!)

HI,

There are classroom assistants positions available from time to time, and yes, they are open to all nationalitiies.

The Dept of Education is the place to go... this can be found on Queensway.

Government jobs are always listed in the Gib Chronicle too.

Good advice.聽 I will try the Dept. of Education and see what they have available for the upcoming school year.

聽聽I have been living so close to Gib (Tangier) all these years, and I love it so much, so it really is time that I tried living there!

Hi Ann Marie,

we found out about teaching vacancies by looking on the "official notices" on the Gib Govt website in Feb, it asked for all would be teachers to apply by the closing date, the next week!聽 My wife applied by post and was invited to an interview there, we are awaiting the outcome, we've been told we'll hear this week and if offered it will be a "contracted post". Jobs are open to non Gibraltarians who can work there聽 - ie EU citizens. I guess assistants or librarians would be advertised there too. But it seems like its an annual recruitment round, miss it and wait a year! I dont think there are any private schls in Gib are there? Nearest is up the coast about 40 mins - forget the name... hope this helps!

Hi SPP,

is there any way of viewing the Gib Chron's job adverts on the web? I tried its website but it doesnt link to job ads, I assume that it does carry them in the hard copy version, but perhaps not on the website, so as no to encourage outsiders to apply? (May be just my suspicious mind!)
