Absolutely Anything Else

That is wild to say run them down.Yes, not allot of difference really between a cop or a criminal; Both have to be willing to step over the line of what is moral. That being said, my ex SIL the Army MP was a straight shooter sort of person and had a heart. My husbands grandfather was a Hungarian police officer, a high ranking one.He was the purchasing agent for all the police horses. Like the Queens, Kings guard horses in the UK would be.Well respected and was one of the boys; Used to train the horses himself as well. Got his hands and I suppose britches dirty, not too good to be thrown if needed. I almost forgot to put the letter R in britches! He traveled and bought horses and broke them in himself. This was in the 1930s before the war. He got TB and died leaving his wife with 7 or 8 children. They went from a good life to a hard one after he died. They had to move from the nice house the gov; gave them and the eldest son had to start working to help out.He never married, took care of their mother till her dying day.My MIL introduced him often to her friends but he was not interested in getting married but played a role raising his siblings and caring for their mother. I met him, he became a commie and was a master at herbal treatments and knowing what teas cured illnesses. He was also a huge fan of the spas. The Rudas in the day was his second home. He knew exactly how long to be in which water for what sickness etc.Strange guy who lived till about 90. Yes it is a huge relief to get another good result CT. I have learned over the years to take what doctors say with a few grains of salt, to not jump in and go along with them until you do some research. In my case my gastro doctor sent me to a surgeon and not straight to oncology. He was ready to start chopping away!! I said no, cried and ran out. Literally had to run away. My husband held back and made sure I was sent to oncology and thank God that was the right choice for me. I would of offed myself instead of get the radical surgery they suggested; It was major surgery and for what? No reason at all as it turns out. - @Marilyn Tassy

In the UK, there's a big difference with policing.  Cops in the UK have to go to police college for something like 3 years before they are let loose on the public.   In the US, a cop can be on patrol with just a few months training.  And of course, UK cops are not generally armed.  People aren't going to get shot very often.  But they do get tasered and the cops have been known to fit someone up with evidence (meaning they falsify the case against the alleged perp).  Doesn't happen very often.   I have seen films where the differences between the cops and the crooks are hard to see.  I can imagine DEA agents been very heavily leaned on to accept bribes.  There's so much money involved in drugs and such violence and threats, it must take a toll on people's minds. Undercover, jeez, must need nerves of steel.

It was a good job your hubby was on the job - he saved you. Surgeons always want to cut stuff up.  But that sounds very radical if there are other options.  Sometimes I wonder if the docs are just making stuff up and experimenting on us all.  I live in fear they say I need a replacement hip or I've got some other thing going on.  I reckon that's the last resort.  Physio would probably be the best idea, even if I have to pay for it.  Not the same scale as oncology but still.

Yes, my husband was a true hero.

I think he was so afraid of losing me that he stepped up his game to overtime.

I have months of lost memories.  I slightly recall laying flat out staring at the ceiling .

That and running to the loo to be sick, washing up and going back to bed.

I was not even as ill as some people get.

My biggest problem although I am still grateful to Hungary for caring for me is, they were the reason I got so ill.

I was a rare case of someone who is allergic to chemo. They have 2 different tests that are required to be done first in most countries which they did not do here.

I would of gladly paid out out pocket for the tests if needed. One cost $100; and the other cost$150.

My liver could not process the drugs, a genetic thing where the lack of or the low amount of enzymes in the liver can not process a chemo called, 5 FU. Love the FU add on!!

My brother had a chemo that had added 5FU but he did fine on it.

Called DPD deficiency.

Like how would your average person even know about such a reaction being possible.

One reason to do your research before signing away your life.

Chances of dying from DPD could happen with even one 5FU infusion for some people.

My sister had a hip replacement a few years ago; Sometimes it still hurts but she does allot of physical work still so if it needs to be done then research it.

Yoga stretches might help.

I was one of the most flexible people in my yoga class with my hips. Could sit up and put my feet behind my head etc. Stand on one leg and hold the other one by my ear . Post radiation I can no longer do those moves, only about half as stretchy as I used to be and I worked hard to get this far.

Radiation makes everything tight and stiff and somewhat painful in the joints.

Still, better then getting chopped up.

Your skin can get burnt raw too. Living hell for a few months but what can ya do?

Could be worst.

I wonder if my friend is silly enough to go to the protest today. i asked her again not to go for her own safety. Not sure why she needs to put herself in harms way. Different if you are 20 to 30 years old and can defend yourself and run. Not some 69 year old lady in a wheelchair with hands that do not work well.

Her husband seems a bit reckless to me to even think of taking her there.

5 FU!  Now that's a kind of sticking your fingers up kind of name.  How they came up with that name makes me wonder?!  Perhaps it's a kind of bad joke by the researchers?

My bro (RIP) told me the chemo was unrelenting.  It kills a lot of good cells too.  He didn't look that good even then and he was hardly into the treatment plan.  He also swelled up from steroid injections.  Looked like he was going for an audition as the Michelin Man.  Radiation gave him a rather fab looking Mohican.  I cannot say it was an upside.  Generally a dreadful thing.  10 years almost since he passed.

I've been looking at some hip exercises on .  He's well known now on UK TV for his fitness clips.  He did very well during COVID when everyone had to hide at home.  He's got a good way about him.   I say I look at the exercises. I think if I started them,  I might die.  My daughter says start somewhere and start slowly.  But I can feel my hip hurting just looking at him doing it.

Nice day today. It's a day for doing outside things but the heat and UV is going to be high.

There are a lot of parades and marches -  Trump's Birthday, sorry Military parade in DC,  Trooping the Colour in London and the No Kings all over.   No Kings hasn't reached Budapest.  I'll catch the highlights another time on any of those.  Always got stuff to do here at Fluffy Towers.

My Vegas buddy finally gave up on going to the protest.

I am glad she did.

She saw too many memes of people running over protesters and had a bad feeling .

Smart move on her part.

It is lovely outside.

We went to Tesco today to return a watermelon we bought yesterday. Got it home and realized it was rotten to the core.

Out of all the melons, he picked the worst one.

Busy today inside Arena Plaza; They had a stand set up for donations of dog supplies.

Bought a lotto ticket, yes right, big winner here!

My husband yesterday broke down and allowed me to show him a couple of yoga moves. he slept funny over a week ago and his shoulder is killing him. Hate to see that.

Rub it down, ice it, give teas for swelling and make sure he relaxes but still, not healing fast enough.

I told him to see the ortho if it does not get better and ask about a shot. No way, he does not trust any of them.

Not all are out to get you although some are, or seem to be.

They would be out of work if they actually healed people.

My hair did not fall out, got dry, sort of dull looking and had some thin patches; I bought 2 wigs but never wore them. brand new. Of course my chemo was stopped early because it made me sicker then anything.

Lucky it was winter time and I was so out of it mentally that I just did not care about hair, least of my worries at the time. I just plopped a hat on my head and went out. No makeup, no dressing fancy, nothing it was hard to even put on clothing that slightly even matched. Basic black always works.

I know i am well now because I once again care about my hair and clothing.

For 3 years I hardly bought any new clothing because I have allot already and dressing nice was the last thing on my mind; Now i am ready to take on the world again!

I feel blessed and I know I am.

It comes down sometimes to attitude, I know if one thing does not get you, something else will;

One day at a time and always make the best of each day.

Dinner is ready stuffed peppers with beef and a sauce with left over cream of potato soup.

Probably was wise for your friend not to attend the No Kings event.   I still continue to wonder why people support Trump at all.  He's got a lot on his plate this morning with Israel and Iran and he's probably struggling to get his bouffant and spray on tan right.

I am always baffled why he thinks he's so good he can use sheer force of his personality  to get result from ideologically opposed and committed groups.  It's completely bonkers.  Like they care what he thinks?  It's a fight to the death for them.  He seems to think everything is a real estate deal and it's about money.  Well, guess what Donny, it aint! Prepared to die for your corner or your deal?  No? Well, others are!

It is very nice outside. Mrs F volunteered to walk the dog with me but says not until later when the sun is going down. I think it's fine in the forest even now. Plenty of shade from the trees etc and a slight breeze, it's OK.  It always drops a lot down from now, like 35C in the sun to 20C and a bit chilly.   I think we should go about 17h when nearly everyone is at home.

I was in the UK lottery but as usual, nada, zilch, big fat zero, null.   Story of my lottery life.

Mrs F bought a melon from Spar and it was fine but a little on the pricey side.  I'm not that keen on water melon but I like the yellow melons rather.  Quite nice with a bit of ginger and lemon.  I was thinking I'd like a fruit salad today.  Good to have that chilled but juicy tang on a hot day.  Mrs F and a Fluffyette went to Aldi to get the stuff.  It'll be for later.    At Aldi, they'd give you the money back for the rotten water melon.

Yes, chemo or otherwise, something else will get you.  That's the story though, isn't it?  Death by a thousand cuts for most people.  I mean, having one disease doesn't stop you having another one at the same time.  I think if you're seriously ill, nothing else matters.  No-one is making plans I suppose in that uncertainty.

And then again,  it's just easy to die in an accident. We could be lucky like that guy on the Air India plane crash..  She was the sole survivor.  Others made it too but died by the end of day one.  And she wasn't found until day 8.  She had multiple injuries unlike that guy walking out of the crash in India.   I suspect everyone will want seat 11A now.  That's a window seat just in front of the emergency door I believe.  It's the last seat in Economy before Business.    That's one I'd avoid as there's no space for your bag under the seat in front of you but plenty of leg room.  I shall think twice now about my choices.

We had chicken curry last night.  And I had salmon sandwiches (in crispy rolls) for lunch.  I also made a sugar free bread and butter pudding.   It's dead easy to do and one can add all sorts to liven it up - raisins, bananas, poppy seeds, cinnamon etc.

Marilyn Tassy

Bread pudding is one of my faves.

I made some a couple weeks ago, used to make it all the time but my husband said I am making him fat.

My mother made the best bread pudding, IDK, hers was always super creamy yet firm.

I also like rice pudding with raisins.

I do not like window seat on flights,I always try to get an aisle seat. I pre pay for one, worth it to me.

I took a chance on BA airlines, more like BS airlines; One a long haul from London to Vegas. They really jacked us up; Gave us seats rows away from each other between a group of pre drunk Sweds going on holiday in Vegas. All young men in their 20s who were managers of some fast food shops and this trip was their reward. Ones reward is another,s nightmare! There were 17 or more of them, all loud and drunk. I did not bother asking if anyone would allow my husband and I to sit together, no manners so why bother? I had to go over several times to make sure my husband was drinking water and taking his pill.No one offered to switch and we did not want to ask.

The long legged guy next to me had the aisle seat and was passed out drunk most of the flight. Everytime I wanted to use the WC or stretch my legs I had to wiggle around his legs to leave my seat. There was one guy in the aisle who I was chatting with as we stretched our legs out. Out of nowhere he just went down and took a nap in the aisle!!! They let him sleep there;blocking the way, had to hop over him to get to the WC or the back of the plane!

Never in my life did I see such a thing on a flight.

Never fly with BA, BS again if I can avoid it!

Tesco took back the rotten melon and we got another one; They were on sale for 289 a kilo, saw them for 749 at other shops!

It is OK, not that sweet but not horrible; We will be making juice out of the rind. All the vitamins are in the rind. I like yellow melons better too.

Melons are a good way to get water in your system.

I remember in Ca in summer , trucks carrying melons would go up and down the streets selling them. They would even cut out a piece and let you try before you buy.

I also pay for a seat choice.  I am also a fan of the aisle seat, not least because it's easy to get to the loo without fighting other people and it's faster to get off.  I get so bored on the planes, anything past about 3h and I'm getting uncomfortable, not least because of my hip.   I have to walk around a bit to get it to ease off.  I can only watch so many films and TV shows before even they drag.

British Airways (aka British Scareways)  used to be OK but they don't fly where I want to go these days.  The cheaper airlines like Wizzair have far better routes and it's pretty easy going from here to the UK to different airports on any number of airlines like Ryanair or Easyjet.  One thing about BA is you know their planes are well maintained and the pilots extremely well trained.  Never quite sure on the others.

I haven't seen any drunk people on planes for ages.  There's a massive risk in getting kicked off if people are boozed up and now if there's a diversion, the naughty passenger(s) have to pay for it.  That's a disincentive to save the boozing until the destination.   I used to drink on the plane to knock myself out, on the long haul anyway, but I don't any more.  It's not proper sleep if you've had a couple of shots.  Now it's tea, water and maybe coke zero. Need to keep on my game if it's work travel.

Glad you got the melon refund.  I've been in Tesco and there was mouldy stuff in the veg section.  I complained and they took it away.  If they are stacking the boxes of fruits up etc., I always check the boxes underneath for sell by dates.  They don't like that but hey, my choice which ones I buy.

In some countries like Tajikistan, they have an actual Melon Day.  I was there and you see trucks lined up selling them off the back.  People don't buy stuff like that at the supermarket.  We have a couple of village fruit stalls and they sell them but they aren't refrigerated or anything so we don't know what we'd be getting.  We've just had the strawberry season.  Buying a box and throw half away after its all been in the sun all day.

We've got our own raspberry bushes.  I also have a plum tree but it doesn't seem to have any plums on it.  it's a bit concerning as it's not that small a tree, it's at least 5ft tall and very productive - of leaves.    We also have an apple tree, no fruits on that either.  We bought it in Aldi and now that's about 6ft tall.   Our cherry tree has some cherries but not too many.  It used to be hugely productive - many kg of cherries.   Our peach tree had 3 peaches but 2 dropped off and 1 one is still there. It's really not looking healthy.  We had to spray it with anti-fungals.   I have to do it again as it needs two doses.   It's got very few leaves but the anti-fungal has made a big difference.  It's just not bushy enough.

Mrs F is working on tomato, cucumber and beans now.   The only thing which seems to be looking massively healthy are my 3 grapevines.  They've only been in the ground 1 year so aren't completely established yet they are all showing nice bunches of grapes and excellent growth.   I've decided to "sponsor" the grapevines and take care of them.  I'm using tomato food on them. Mrs F usually does the "garden produce" so this is a bit unusual.

The other day, I did some concreting (lime plastering really) on my hi-tech birdbath.  It's almost done. I only have to connect the wiring for the mood/down lighting and water seal the actual bath.  It should look good when it's done.  I need to get the bird bath hidden camera too.  Then I can see the birdies splashing away.  Or the cat looking for its dinner - we could have made a Büfé for the furry friend.   Maybe I'll need to put barbed wire around it so it looks like a model of a commie guard tower.    I must say, being semi-retired has really brought on a lot of my half-completed (half-assed?) outside jobs.    I've got a new idea - a new design for a wood storage unit.   Mrs F is fed up with the current wood storage overflow blocking up the parking area.  And that's with a giant 5m pop up pool taking up loads of space.

Yesterday, we were walking in the forest and we met another dog (German Shepherd) which angrily attacked our Goldie.  She was injured and bleeding.  Cut tongue, bleeding nose.   So we'll be having a trip to the vet tomorrow as she'll need antibiotics.  Poor doggy looks depressed now and unhappy but is improving.  Vet told us not to give her too much food because it could help infect the wounds.   Maybe she'll need to be anaesthetised so the vet can look at her mouth.   We've never seen such an aggressive response on our doggy who blindly just wants to be friends with everyone.

Oh, and it's Father's Day.   I received 2 cards and one present from 4 kids.  Not too bad all things considered how spread out we all are - HU, Canada and UK.  Maybe I'll get another Instant Message from Canada from the one over there in Ontario.

IDK anything about gardens but my in laws had a very productive one.

I know fruit trees need to be pruned at certain times in certain ways and they only last a couple of years or so.

We had a wonderful large lemon tree in Ca; Gave us so much fruit we did not know what to do with it. Would drop off full paper grocery bags full to neighbors just so they did not go to waste. I had enough in the freezer for years to come.

Sorry about the dog fight;

I am guessing the other dog was off lead?

My Doberman was trained to be off lead  but because of his size, breed and fear of Dobermans most people have, I 99% of the time kept him on lead. I did it mostly for his protection from some idiot trying to club him or freak out.

I used a pinch collar because he honestly even with training was too strong for your average person to handle if things got ugly.

He could take off a grown mans arm if he got going.

My mother used to flip out as to why I had such a large dog, she always said I needed a lap dog, well Dobermans are lap dogs at times too.

They are super sweet animals in the right hands.

I watched a video the other night about how to stop a dog bite. After that hipster dog deal the other day I wanted more info. Not sure I am strong or fast enough but I would give it a try if needed; Have to wiggle their collar up towards their jaw bone from behind them and chock them out; No collar could be tricky but you use your forearm and other hand to squeeze their throat till they pass out , then run!

I saw my friend getting bite from a pit bull when I was 7. The teenage boy who owned the dog was beating his dog with our baseball bat  but once they are locked on to flesh, they will not let go easily. Have to cut off their air supply.

I hope the dog owner is going to pay for your vet bills, only right to do so.

Saw a 6 year old girl drown at the spa the other day. Her stupid mother was right there but on her cell phone!! Nice going mom!

I just do not understand that one at all.

Happy Father,s day to all the dads out there!

Our son sent a greeting to his father but he did not call yesterday.

I hung up on him the day before because he was getting rude. I told him he was too old to talk like a fool and hung up on him.

Sucks to have a disagreement with anyone but some people need to wake up.

One second thought, in obedience training with my Max, the instructor did choke out my Dobbie once.

It works, I had to turn my back and not watch because it hurt to see but he learned his lesson.

He got up from a sit stay and went around to a female dog and started sniffing her. I do not remember if this exercise was off lead or life we just had a lunge line on the dogs.

The teacher told him , OUT and he looked at her and growled. She went to him, lifted him off of his front legs by his neck and chocked him till he went down. She said sorry to me but that it had to be done.

She raised Rotties, had 3 of them and did not take any BS off any pet.

One tough lady, could tell when I first met her, she had on white nurse shoes like nurse Ratchet! All business no messing about.

That was the one time my Max did growl at a person for no reason, forgot about that, he was still a puppy at the time.

I don't think we'll take the doggy to the vet.  She's got to go next week anyway for a vaccinations and she seems to be subdued but not seriously injured.  She can be given the once over then.  We have some antibiotics for the dog anyway so we can give some of those.

We often walk our dog without a lead in the forest as she's so friendly but now it's new rules - meet another dog, always on the lead now and no friendly sniffing.  Just total avoidance.  It's been very upsetting, remarkably so.  Mrs F was quite disturbed by the incident.   I didn't think she liked the dog that much. We have no details on the other dog but we do know what kind of dog and I'd recognise the people.

I've heard the way to stop a mad dog is to push its front legs apart. Their chests are really weak and it could cause a heart issue.  But if you're being savaged, it's hard to imagine if you could keep your cool and do that.  I wouldn't have any qualms about stabbing a mad dog or belting it with a bit of pipe.   One has to think about self-preservation.

I don't know anything about gardening either. I rely on Mrs F.  I have been looking at designs for wood storage as a new project.  I'd need to make a kind of cylinder.  I'm thinking of something like this below.  It's easy to make a frame for it.  I can then "stretch" and bend bits of steel sheet around the outside.  I've got some I can cut off another thing I made. Don't want to buy anything unnecessarily.  It's artistic enough for a "rough" look to be artistic.

Our kids have been watching the news too much. They have been talking of turning our cellar into a bunker.  OK, we can do that but we'd need help to make that work - they'd have  to work on it with us.   My thinking is if the fighting gets closer, forget the house, get out and far away asap.  We'd be in the queue with everyone else running for Austria.

Wood storage model - like garden furniture:

That looks like a work of art. Might as well make something look nice as well as being functional.

I should talk, our flat looks like a Hoarder Heaven, someday I will get my husband to clear his areas up.

used to flip out over how messy he can get but these days I am happy we are still breathing and try to not make a fuss about the small things. Did flip out a tiny bit this morning when I found chunks of cake on the floor, use a dish is on repeat around here! I now have another excuse to wash the floor.

Did the owns of that German Sheppard know what their dog did? If so and they said or did nothing then they are real jerks.

Our family dog came home from roaming the hills in San Fernando in the early 1960s all torn up. He obviously had a run in with coyotes. He was half alive and somehow made it home, huge open wounds all over his body. My mom and eldest sister quickly wrapped bed sheets around him and drove at high speed to the vet. He stayed there for about a week. We kids all prayed every night, like in a movie, on our knees and all. He lived to be over 17 years old.

Not sure why I forgot how the obedience trainer had to chock my dog out in class in front of everyone. He had to learn not to growl and snap, he snapped at her for not allowing him to get to that female dog.He never tried anything like that again, so it worked the first time.

She grabbed him by his collar, we always had chock chains on our dog in class. Got behind him and lifted him off the ground by his neck until he just went limp for a few moments. She gave him time to gather himself and we just got on with class.

He was one of the largest puppies in class and I was a first time dog owner except for having family pets as a child. A very powerful breed of dog for a newbie like me to have but it worked out fine.

What nearly 30 years on my my shoulder still remember him pulling me so hard my arm nearly fell off;

That is why I started him in training, realized he was too much for me unless I took control of him before he got any stronger.

He did novice and grad novice training; One course was 6 weeks long and the other 2 months long.

It really got to be fun to see how smart he could be and how fast he learned. We trained them to do a long stay while we left the area to see if they would listen to commands without us being in sight. Some breeds listen better then others but he did it, think it was about 5 mins when we all hid and only the trainer kept an eye on all the dogs. He learned to lay down mid run on command and stay there. He would just drop when told to, comes in handy if car is coming and you want them to not run into the street or worst.

He even did his sit at all traffic lights and I felt bad when he was old and I knew it must of hurt his joints. Could not break that habit though, such a good boy.

Yes, the news, I have taken a break from it for a few days.

I did however see a warning from Trump for those living in Tehran to evacuate!

Looked it up, nearly 10 million live in the city!

Where are they suppose to go?

My friend in N.Ca; lived in Tehran for 5 years, left in 1978 when being a 6 foot tall blonde American was not a good look for the times.

She took her 2 children and her husband came to the US about 6 months later.

When we had that silly US Cuba thing in the 1960s,our mother scared us more then any commie could.

She said because we did not have a bomb shelter she had another idea if those dirty commies invaded the US or sent a nuke our way.

She would be giving us all sleeping pills, turn on the gas from the oven then put a pillow over our faces before she shot herself.

Nice one mom! I started watching the news at age 7 and was fully invested in the outcome!

Gosh mom, talk about crazy ideas!

Your Mum was planning on taking the Goebels technique way out.  He stuck by Adolf to the end.  I really don't know how anyone could do that to their kids.  I couldn't do it.  I'd try and get them out to safety or die trying.  And who'd top themselves or sacrifice themselves for Donald Trump?  No-one with any sense.  Not even for money unlike those Russians for Putin.

Here's my prediction - I reckon Trump left the G7 because the USA is going to enter the war with the bunker buster bombs to finish Iran once and for all.  And Israel is going to kill the Supreme Leader. No-one West of Iran is going to be crying over it.   There will be massive chaos afterwards.   Interesting Iran turned out to be a paper tiger.

Or Trump is so bound up in his own self-importance, he cannot take anyone disagreeing with him.  His approval rating has apparently plummeted.   It could all implode by the middle of the year.   The country cannot continue to be run by clowns.   It's also interesting that this is a real MAGA crisis.

I'll cross post this in International Relations.
