Job yes, but no funds to relocate

Home_where_the_hat

I've been without regular income since last year and the savings are used up.

At present I am in the process of getting a job in Dublin. However if I do get the job, I won't have enough funds to relocate (the potential employer only offers some cash), so I could get to Dublin, but only have enough money for food for a few days.

Is there any official assistance I could get from somewhere?

My nationality is German and I am currently based in Malta.

I am guessing your relocation costs would be largely initial letting.  You could also check sites like Gumtree.ie or Craigslist for temporary housing until you get on your feet.

Perhaps you can explain to your employer your situation.  I'd ask if there is temporary corporate housing, until you can find a place that suits.  If not, ask if they could recommend a place--it may be a stretch but maybe you could be housed with someone in the company short term--at least until you receive your first salary (or second).  Then you can afford to look for a proper place to stay.

Good luck to you.  I hope this helps.

couch surfing!

Thanks for the replies. Looks like couch surfing would be the way to go.

I am seriously beginning to wonder if I can handle the weather though.
