Can i travel within Italy with an expired 90 day tourist visa ?

katyaaragon

Hi, i have the appt w the Questura may 8, for the permiso di soggiorno, however, i wanted to fly from pisa to Palermo next week for 10 days. Wondering since i am traveling within the country if it would be a problem, either way i know they wont stamp my papers when i get to Palermo, correct? Thank you all

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I suspect it may depend on whether they check your ID when you go through airport security.  Google tells me that they do.  However, if you have gone through the correct procedures in arriving in the country and then applying to remain, then I don't think it will be an issue.

I hope this helps.

I don't understand how you can have an appointment at the Questura on May 8, yet have been in Italy for over 90 days.  Upon arrival in Italy, one has eight days to apply for the Permesso di Soggiorno, which can take up to 4 months to get.  However, the official provides a receipt that you carry with you in case you are stopped and ask for your passport/visa.  Did you already apply for a long-stay visa?  If not you cannot apply for the permesso, while in Italy as far as I am aware.Â
