Hello everyone,

Here are some points to guide you; the idea is to provide average prices for each category:

What are the tuition fees for children?

What are the average monthly costs for utilities, such as electricity, gas, water, internet, and phone plans?

How much do you spend monthly on leisure activities?

If there are other expenses you find relevant, please feel free to share them!

@Evreham

Our water/electric is €40 a month.

Where we live in Kercem to Victoria with Bolt from €4.

Groceries about €350 a month.

We don't pay any health insurance.

Transport is free.

Transport is free for senior citizen,but not for other people. Health insurance is compulsory,but entitled people are exempted to pay directly. The annual inflation of 2023 was over 5%, however prices for transport and petrol did not increase, but food prices increased often by more than 10%.

Hi hanselmar. Not sure if you are aware, but if you register for a "Tallinja Card" public transport is free, regardless if you are a senior citizen or otherwise. This is valid for buses - Day Routes, Night Routes and Special Services. You can also use the Valletta to Sliema ferry, the Valletta to Birgu ferry and the Valletta lift from Lascaris Wharf, which is situated on the waterfront Grand Harbour side of Valletta, to the Upper Barrakka Gardens for free.

Hope this helps.

@hanselmar

Wrong information, anyone with a personalized Tallinja card transport is free.

@Evreham

Of course it is important to know personalized Tallinja cards are free w.e.f. 1st October 2022. This means people who have a registered residence here in Malta can travel free of charge.After Luxembourg Malta is the second country of the EU that offers such a service.In London this service is only available for  senior citizen.

If you are not working in Malta, and therefore not having insurance through an employer, how much does a comprehensive health insurance policy tend to cost?

office1795

@Mermaid7

this depends on the age, but for example a private health insurance is about 600 euros for a 40 year old person per year
