Cash Cheque in Malta?

HiTF5

Hi!

So here I am in beautiful Malta and it looks like I will be paid before I can secure a local bank account. Not the end of the world but it is a bit irritating. I searched back through the forum and saw cheques used to be cash'able at bank of issue if presented with ID.

Just wondering if this was still the case, anyone else notice how many hoops you have to jump through to get an account here?!!!!

Yes they cash them at a fee but many places will do it, local shops etc. Coppinni's also cash cheques (Buggiba, Sliema and Valletta.)
