You havent said but are you both UK citizens? or at least one of you ?
if so you dont need a visa, work permit or anything to live and work in malta .. though you will after 3 months have to apply for residency this is generally straight forward.
If your both working you will get healthcare from your national insurance stamp in malta just like the locals  or you can apply for the rha if your not working  (again you sort this out in malta)

Thank you for the help, I think the part that bothers me and I'm sure I'm not the 1st  is the fear of at least one of us getting a job within the 90 days.

I'm hoping to sort before hand but we do have a date that we want to move over by to make the most of the situation we have.

You have up to six months too look for work ( Maltas policy) and trust me if your willing to do something there is plenty of work available obviously it depends on the kinda work your after - most bar , hotel , restraunt work won't even consider you till you get to Malta

Don't get so hung up over registration etc.    As a member of the EU (I assume you are an EU citizen?) you are entitled to live, work basically do what you like in any other EU country, including Malta. You won't get deported etc. As a registered job seeker you get 180 days anyway but don't worry about it. Find work and your employer gets the work permit. If either of you pay SS contributions through work then the family are covered for health. (You pay for medication though, again, read my article). You may not get any responses to any job applications whilst you remain in the UK. The Maltese deal 'face to face' so you need to be out here and then do the rounds, if necessary just turn up and hand them a copy of your CV. Some jobs may require you to speak Maltese though. What areas of employment are you hoping to get into? Good luck!

whatever you do don just mailshot with your cv - you will be wasting time effort energy and money... so do the rounds call on people businesses etc and make yourself known s lookig for work ....its easier and much more succesful.

Thank you, it does definitely appear best way to find employment is to be based in Malta already.
As for roles to be honest as long as it pays enough for me to live a reasonable lifestyle similar to now (not that hard) then I am happy to do any job as is my wife. So hopefully we will be alright

You can always take one job and apply for others , if two of you are working too things will be easier - guess it depends on what kind of life your used too

At the moment, month to month paying bills and little else.
I've worked out that because of various things I'm sorting out before moving out. We need around 18k euro a year before tax etc. to have a similar standard of living as we do currently in UK.

So with both hopefully working then we should be living a much better standard

yes i would say thats about right and i think between the two of you,  you should easily amass that amount of money

my husband doing two part time jobs in the summer came away with about 850 euro a month after tax
it really does depend on what industries you apply for work in though and he didnt really have much trouble finding work and he found working at one company as soon as a full time job came availible he was able to get it because they knew him and they tend to recruit those they know rather then based solely on CV's .

we know have about 19k before tax and its a lot easier and we can put money away too but thats based on only him working .
i am trying to find work but due to health problems things arent so easy

I found sending cvs out prior to our visit to check out accomodation wasnt useful as everything is much slower. I did get one response and hes keen to meet with us when we arrive, but yes they all want you to be in Malta when applying for work.

We are not worried though have a little savings to tide us over and get to grip with things when we are there. Good luck!
