Best cities for retirement in Malta

Bhavna

Hello everyone,

An increasing amount of people want to spend their retirement abroad. Would you consider giving a few tips to those looking into Malta for their retirement?

What are the most attractive cities for retirees in Malta?

Why are these the best cities in Malta for retirement (quality of life, cost of living, climate, health, security, etc.)?

Are there any specific areas in Malta where there are special retirement schemes or retirement-friendly residential areas?

Are there any activities suitable for retirees in Malta?

Do you have any tips on where to start looking or how to choose a suitable city for oneÂ’s retirement in Malta?

If you have, yourself, chosen to spend your retirement abroad, please tell us what city you have chosen and why?

Please share your experience.

Anywhere in Gozo, although it’s getting busier it’s still quieter then Malta and far more relaxing.

Hi
Mellieha is a pretty good place to retire it is quieter than Sliema / Gzira without being too quiet and there are is a good ex pat community here, shops, sandy beaches and its not too far away from anywhere even Gozo with a good road network to the rest of the island

As I live in Gozo for 6 years I recommend Gozo. Perhaps Marsalforn is the best place to retire, but there are many other places where one can meet retirees from different places of Europe and the UK.

However, if you are not satisfied with Malta emigrate to Mauritius, the little India in the south of Africa.

If anyone wants to retire somewhere not too noisy and busy I would avoid Marsalforn and Xlendi.

I can recommend Marsaskala, here is everything that you need. Very good bus connections to Valletta and close to the Airport. In Wintertime it's quiet and in Summertime busier, but always with a nice atmosphere,
