Moving to the Netherlands with Paragraph 24 (Germany)

Oleksandr26

Hello everyone,

I’m currently living in Germany under temporary protection (Paragraph 24 – due to the war in Ukraine). I’m thinking about moving to the Netherlands to find a job.

Does anyone know:

– Is it legally possible to live and work in the Netherlands with this status?

– Will I need to apply for a different residence or work permit in the Netherlands?

– Has anyone here tried something similar?

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance šŸ™

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I'm assuming you're a Ukrainian citizen with a current, valid passport.Ā  The section 24 you refer to is a feature of German law that permitted Ukrainians affected by the war in their country to live and work in Germany, it was further reviewed to permit temporary travel between Germany and other Schengen signatory states, but that's it, it does not allow you to move to any other country to live and work.Ā  To do this in the Netherlands you will need to apply to the Dutch Government, the Dutch government department that deals with this is the IND, they have a website with a contact section; this will take you straight to it.Ā  My advice would be for you to contact the IND and ask for their advice on how you can take this further.

I hope this helps.
