Norwegian address when applying for skilled worker visa from abroad

sarahloumalick

Hi all, I am applying for a skilled worker visa in Norway with an existing job offer (with Norwegian employer) from the US and my husband a family visa (also from US). One of the requirements listed is proof of a Norwegian address. We have booked an AirBNB for our first month, and then plan to submit a statement that we will look for permanent housing upon arrival. I have a couple of questions about this.

  1. Do you think one month is a long enough time to make a difference in the application, or should we have just submitted the explanation? Our appointment to present physical documents is next week, so we could change that.
  2. In looking at other's experiences for how long it takes to receive word from UDI I am getting worried that our 2 month window is not realistic. That being the case, I might cancel our AirBNB before the cancellation deadline one month from now. Any thoughts on whether or not UDI would have access to that information or if it would matter one way or the other?

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Sarah

Hi,

For adress you can ask your employer to provide you with someone’s address.

For me it was my recruiting manager who gave his home address.

Once you land in Norway and go for police verification they will use this address to send your residence certificate. Thus the address is crucial.

Oh wow, OK this is very good to know. Does it need to be a home address then or can it be my work address where I would be receiving mail anyways?

It nerds to be a Home address. And The Home address should have a post box.
