Fiance Visa confusion

idkconfusedbrit

Hi,

I'm English and my partner is Norwegian. We plan to get married in 2 years time, but are looking into the visa process now, but it's a little confusing.

There is a clause on the checklist that states:

Documentation of the requirement for four years full time work or studies (the four year requirement)
You only need to meet this requirement if

you do not have children together, and have been living together for less than two years, or

you have children together, but the children were conceived after the reference person moved to Norway. (You do not need to fulfill the requirement if the child was conceived while you both had residence permits in Norway), andÌý

the reference person is not a Norwegian citizen, and came to Norway as a resettlement refugee, an asylum seeker, through family immigration, or was given a residence permit on the grounds of strong humanitarian considerations or a particular connection to Norway

I currently work and live in the UK, but my income is below the threshold to support my partner moving to the UK.

My partner resides in Norway, and is on full disability benefit there, so their income is enough for me to move there.

Because of our work/life situations, we don't live together permanently (and they aren't/can't be named on my tenancy agreement). However, my partner visits and lives with me for the max allowed period (this was just under 6 months during Covid, but now travel is easier we plan for them to visit for 2 months, go back to Norway for a few months, then visit again).

I'm not sure how this would impact our application. Am I right that I'm required to have studied or worked in Norway for 4 years because we haven't lived together for two years? Or is this section not relevant because my partner is Norwegian?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Hey there, just did a quick Google search because I was certain this was for the person living in Norway, not you, and found this: "The four year requirement means that the reference person must have worked or studied full-time for four years combined. How to meet the four year requirement? In order to fulfill the four year requirement, the person living in Norway must have worked or studied full-time for a total of four years."
