Moving to Wroclaw

John McGowan

Hello all   :)

I will be relocating to Wroclaw in June/July with my current employer.
Having spent the last 16 years in Prague, it's time for a change.
Would be interested to know in which area of Wroclaw expats tend to live/avoid.
Would also be good to know if there are some expat meetups in Wroclaw, though I'm not all that interested in Internations.

Thanks Priscilla.
I'm not new to expat forums, so the first thing I did was trawl through the standard info.
Sadly, most of it hasn't been updated in 3 years.

Hi John,

I have spent 8 months  in Wroclaw a year ago, I can recommend you some places, no problemo :)

Well,  Bielany, south part, I do not recommend.

I used to go there to work for 3 months, some colleagues of mine were living there, hectic all the time, industrial region and big big highway junction is there, also big supermarkets, shopping centers located there.

Than I used to go to work daily to the east part of Wroclaw, by Park Wyschodni.

That region is much nicer, big parks, as well big high way jucntion, but I would recommend it already.

I was living half a year by NadOdrzem, and I do not recommend that region to anybody.

It is a historical part of Wroclaw, close to the river, not far from city center, but the main street of it - Pomorska is horrible, sorry - loud all the time, the road is bad, streets are dirty, and full of doggy people....

Here the houses are from stone, old style Polish buildings, they are nice inside as well, big balconies, but I did not feel good there.

You should keep in mind, before you choose your location, if you would like to move to work by car, during the working hours, it will get you in traffic jams, anywhere in Wroclaw.

Public transport is not bad, but could be much better, trams and buses are really crowded usually,,or as well, doggy people are traveling on them , of course now, there is limited number of passengers, anyway...

Well, shortly that was it :)

Ps: Wroclaw is amazing, stunning, and I like this capital of the lower-silezian region in Poland, but I would never live again in a big city, Wroclaw was my last try :)

Hi all,

i just left Wroclaw after living there for 8 months

first living in Poland proves difficult for women, minorities and lgbtq communities so be mindful of this before moving.

wroclaw is on the top 5 list of cities most polluted in the world, as an asthmatic it was a real struggle

renting as a foreigner is not easy, polish landlord scam foreigners out of money by taking bogus cleaning charges out of deposit. I used Homfi an agency and even so they scammed me and Homfi didnt do a thing despite an agent confirming flat was good and videos proving clean status.

unless you have no choice but to transfer i would not recommend
